Hi, we are installing WMQ V7 on our first 64 bit Windows 2008 node.
I installed the server: ver = Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600]
I then installed WMQ: dspmqver =
Name: WebSphere MQ
Version: 7.0.1.0
CMVC level: p000-L090813
BuildType: IKAP - (Production)
I then create a queue manager and start it and notice in taskmgr that all the processes are named like "amq?????.exe *32".
Is this normal? does this mean that WMQ is really operating as a 32 bit application and is not truly taking advantage of the 64 bit o/s? |

Ok, I saw that in a FDC it will tell you the addressing mode. So I forced an FDC to be cut and here is the preamble. Note the addressing mode is 32 bit. Is this expected? and can I do (if anything) to get this to be 64 bit?

According to the Quick Beginnings for Windows, MQ v7 can only be installed to C:\Program Files (x86), so therefore the MQ system processes must be 32 bit. The MQ libraries support connections from 32 or 64 bit applications. _________________ Glenn |

Also look at using 7.0.1.2 and keeping up to date with fix packs thereafter. 7.0.1.0 contained bigger changes than normal, because it was a refresh pack rather than simply a fix pack. |
