I have a distributed application sending EBCDIC data without a CIH header. The bridge is abending so I suspect it has something to do with the MQMD and Data packet in mixed CCSID formats. True? Will this approach work the EBCDIC data has Packed Data files in it. I have tried alot of configurations with FORMAT and CCSID and nothing works. So far. |

Why is the bridge abending? What abend code? What does the dump tell you?
Tell me about the consuming application, please. Is it a regular cics transaction that is not mq-aware? Does it expect a 3270 datastream? Or is it a cics application that expects a COMMAREA?
I'm guessing that this a new configuration for you, yes?

1 - AICA and it is happening in the Bridge, The program, is not being started
2 - application is non-Mq awaare, it is expecting a Commarea. But agan, it never gets started.
3 - for the customer yes it is new integration. i have worked with the CICS Bridge many times. This is the first time I have seen Packed Decimal data being sent through in EBCDIC. |

I have tried it at both MQSTR and MQFMT_NONE. as the data is EBCDIC and the code page set to 500 there is no conversion because the code page matches the MF. If I put the data in there as ASCII and do nothing with the code page but set it to MQFMT_NONE it bombs on a 2110. Expected.
Strange is when i do that last bit and set it to MQSTR you would thing conversion but the Bridge AICA's. I am asking the developer to send that message to a dum dum queue, extract it using RFHUTIL save queue and send it to me. They happen to be 4K miles away |

I'd expect to see the first 8 characters of the app message contain the cics application to be launched, followed by the application data. Is this the contents of the message? Or something else? Can you post both the MQMD and the app payload? _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.
