amqrmppa I believe is a symlink to amqrmppa_nd

the _r is to differentiate between libraries that require a different include for threadsafety...

Have fun

_d means "DCE", and _nd means "non-DCE". There is no need for the _nd suffix any more because MQ has, for a couple of releases now, not shipped _d binaries. I don't know if there is a good reason to keep the old _nd suffix, but in today's versions of MQ, it has no significance.

_r means "re-entrant". As far as MQ is concerned, _r libraries do different things with regard to threads and signal handling. See http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wmqv6/v6r0/topic/com.ibm.mq.csqzal.doc/fg11910_.htm
