| Multi Instance Queue Managers |

Has anyone setup multi instance queue managers in a PROD environment yet ? Any gotchas encountered ?
Just a couple of questions
AIX environment
can a single LPAR host multiple queue manager passive instances ?
Is the recommendation that this is possible but you should/must use separate file system shares for each instances logs and data?
The logic being that only one of the passive instances would become active at any point in time disregarding Murphys law
Would you host your passive central hub on the same LPAR as your other passive instances ?
What would be the best way to handle IP address in this scenario would it have to be a manual process which would cause a short outage ?

AFAIK (and that's not too far) each backup queue manager can only be the backup for a given instance.

That's an interesting disregard and a good example of a business balancing risk and expense (something discussed a lot in here) so thank you.

Yes or no, using the same decision making process you'd use to decide to use a central point with HACMP.

It would have to be manual; multi-instance queue managers do nothing with IP address.
The length of the outage, short or long, is entirely dependant on if you're using v7 throughout, have client or server connection, etc, etc. If you don't want an outage pay the extra and get HACMP.
