Greetings:

How do we restore MQ7 Qmgr to MQ6?

I have uninstalled MQ7 and installed MQ6, and started the queue manager which was created under MQ7, I am getting below error:

Object XXX_QMGR, type catalogue has been marked as damaged. This indicates
that the queue manager was either unable to access the object in the file
system, or that some kind of inconsistency with the data in the object was
detected.

Is there any way i can start the qmgr with out deleting and re-create.

Thanks,
Chandra.

No, not unless you have a file system back-up...

Hi,
Thanks for input.

I do not have the file system backup.

I have created the qmgr in version7, and uninstalled v7 and installed v6.

Do we have Qmgr backward compatability.

Thanks,
Chandra.

No, and the documentation tells you that...

No.

If you're looked at the "Migrating to v7" document for your OS before actually doing the migration, you'd have noticed something similar to this:

Quote:
If you migrate from a previous level of this product without first backing up your system, you cannot revert to your previous level, so back up your system before you install WebSphere MQ Version 7.0. This will enable you to back out the upgrade if necessary. If you back out the upgrade, however, you cannot recover any work performed by WebSphere MQ Version 7.0.

So unless you've taken a backup as recommended by the product documentation, you've no way back.
