We are using the CICS Bridge on Region 12. It calls a CICS program on Region 13. Our problem happens when Region 13 is being recycled, etc. CICS does not receive the return and places the message on the DLQ.

We are looking at writing a stub program for Region 12 that acts as a gatekeeper to Region 13 and handles the bad return.

Any opinions? Anyone have any better ideas?

Thanks in advance.

If you specify MQRO_EXCEPTION in your MQMD report options, the Bridge sends a exception message to the replyto queue specified in your MQMD, when there is abend in the linked program.

I like that solution.

I'll give it a quick spin and see what happens.

Thanks!

I doubt that specifying MQRO_EXCEPTION will make a difference.
The CICS bridge should send a reply message following an abend regardless of the report options.

Does any message appear on the CICS CSMT log, what is the feedback code in the mqdlh.reason and does the message appear on the DLQ immediately that region 13 dies or only when the bridge monitor is restarted in region 12.

I'll see if I get this correct. (I'm more of a distributed systems guy and I am working with a mainframe guru.)

It is actually logging to some internal abend file that we have. The reason codes that we are seeing are of 2 types:

401 - CICS abend
411 - CICS internal error

Thanks.
