Setup:
We have MQ5.2 running on a risc6000 inside a cluster, we'll call MQ.HUB. We have MQ5.2 on other risc6000 boxes that have remote definitions pointing channeled to HB.HUB, we'll call MQ.SPOKE.
Problem:
Frequently, we'll have a new message posted with the backout count set to 804397136. We have the "hardened backout count set", and use commit/rollback to process the messages, and move message to a "BACKOUT.QUEUE" when the count is over "2", so the 804Million number is baffeling.
Workaround:
We can drop this message to a file, repost it, and it processes fine.
Question:
Are we missing something? Why always 804397136? Any input, including guesses are quite welcome. Thanks.
Update....
It is only having this "random" problem when the message is non-persistent. Persistent messages have not been having this problem thus far.

I think this is a bug because I too have seen weird values for backout count at random (non-deterministic) times. |

There is a efix that will be available: IC31920. I've been testing on AIX, and it seems to has solved my problem.
