Hi,
I have MQ 6.0.2.3 Version installed in my windows Machine. I need to apply the latest fixpack 6.0.2.8 .
Now after installing the latest pack if I need to roll back to the Previous version ( 6.0.2.3) how can I revert back ?
I would be thankful for a reply
Thanks in Advace.

Uninstall v6.0.2.8
Reinstall v6.0.2.3
Create queue manager from the backup you made prior to installing the fix pack. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Many thanks for your reply.
I need to do like :-
After deleting the 6.0.2.8 it should appear to the previous version 6.0.2.3 with out reinstalling the old version again.

Then why does the Windows MQ installer create a shortcut in the Programs menu called "Remove Fix Pack xxxx" each time you install a fix pack on Windows? |

It's a bluff. Using that tends to remove bits of the base product as well.
In theory you can roll Windows and any Windows application to a previous point by using an uninstaller to revert back to the saved versions of the old files or System Restore. In practice your installation turns to cream cheese and you end up rebuilding.

I already have.
You can (as my worthy associate points out) try the "remove fixpack" icon or removing the fix pack via the Control Panel.
I don't suggest that, nor do I recommend it, but if you want to go for it feel free. You might be lucky. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

I thought the only way to remove a fixpack was through rad updater... or not at all.... _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

That's true of broker.
Apparently none of the moderators have moved this *MQ* question out of the *Broker* forum.

Ok, ok so I missed one. Sue me. You just can't get the moderators the way you used to be able too.
(I mean, you wouldn't do it. That's how I got the job....)

"Create queue manager from the backup you made prior to installing the fix pack."
Can you please help me with how to create a backup of queuemanager, also queues and channels if possible.
Many Thanks ! |

Ask the sys admin what they use to take backups of the file system. Take a backup of the WMQ file system.
Or backup the objects and accept you'll need to delete and reinstall the old version. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Is'nt there any other method apart from taking a filesystem backup ?
I am aware of saveqmgr utility....
Also in case of reverting, will restoring the filesystem backup restore the functionality?? |

Depending on your Unix, you might be able to use SMITY or similar to reverse the install. That's what I was aluding to when I said to ask your sys admins what they use. There's nothing in the WMQ product per se that does this.

If you put the file system back the way it was, what functionality would not be restored? _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
