Our production version of workflow is 3.3.0 and we are going to move to version 3.3.2 which is going to be on another AIX box. We are planning to migrate the database FMCDB on to the new machine. However I see the following problem while doing so.
I've found that there is a difference in the FMCDB database on our current prod box (say box A) and one on the new box (say box B) . The newbox (B) with ver3.3.2 has 21 tablespaces where as the one(say A) with version 3.3.0 only has 19. The new tablespaces are named TMP32 and GCONTAIN . I have no idea what these tablespaces are used for, or if there are other differences between the 2 versions in other places within the database... ie.. additions/deletions of columns, or changes to column attributes. I was under the impression that I could backup the fmcdb on BOX A and lay this backup down into the new box... but, with these differences seems like my idea would not work.
Has any of you faced this migration migraine? I need a suggestion/strategy so that the data on FMCDB on box A with version 3.3.0 to be moved to box B with version 3.3.2. Does IBM have a plan for migrating ???

I believed that the GCONTAIN hold the value for Global Container which is introduced in version 3.3.2
I dont not sure about the temp32.
I audit trail table, version 3.3.2 adds the Container_element column, once again, it is the global container stuff.
I dont think there will be any problem in migrating runtime database. In the MQWF manual, it does explain how to migrate MQWF from 3.1.2 to 3.3.2...but I dont know if that works for you..back up ur DB first and try to migrate it see if any problem occurs. |

Hello folks..
If you follow the instructions in the Installation Guide on the Workflow Documentation CD, you find just how to migrate the DB. Look for the section called "Migrate the Runtime database from Version 3.1.2 or higher to Version 3.3.2".
It will explain how to use the command-line migration tool(fmczm332) supplied by IBM. This is a REQUIRED set of instructions you MUST do before the new WF 3.3.2 version will work.
Here is what I did:
1.) Backed up the Runtime DB on my existing machine (A)
2.) Restored the DB on system (B)
3.) FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO USE THE fmczm332 UTILITY.
4.) Created the configuration using an existing DB.
I think you'll find all the information you need to get the job done.
It worked for me..

This is exactly what I want to hear. Recommendations are nice, but expirience is better...
