Regarding WMBToolkit 6.1.x.x relation to RAD
Have you seen a feature matrix between the different products and where to find it? _________________ Best regards

It's very simple.
You can't do Broker development in RAD.
Broker toolkit is built on top of RAD.
There is no comparison. |

Yes of course but is it that simple that WMBT is a pure superset of RAD? I don't think so since you don't have WebSphere Test Environment (WAS) in WMBT...and probably more that is stripped off _________________ Best regards

The feature sets are different because they are targetted at different products.
The core of both toolkits is Eclipse not RAD.
RAD is build on top of Eclipse.
Broker Toolkit is build on top of Eclipse.
There the similatiry ends.(for simplicty)
Broker is not an Application Server based solution like WAS. _________________ WMQ User since 1999

Every time you reinvent the wheel the more square it gets (anon). If in doubt think and investigate before you ask silly questions. |

from what I can see, WMBT 6.1 has some of the stuff from RAD (J2ee dev, data tools, jython, uml and xml) - but not everything. I think it is probably based on the app server toolkit. You can always merge the two installations on the installation manager and get a superset of both products. |

If you have the test environment for WAS you can hook it into WMBT and then develop for WAS in a fashion very similar to how RAD does it (assuming you are talking about comparable versions of RAD and WMBT).
There are some features that aren't in WMBT but I guess it depends on whether or not you are using any of them, if not then the main difference between RAD and WMBT is that RAD comes with the test environment for WAS and WMBT would require a separate install (and separate license).
It does kind of depend on why you want to do that though, you can most of the time just install them together (sometimes referred to as shell sharing).
As for an actual feature comparison matrix I doubt there will be one. |
