Hi

I have changed the batch size attribute on the sender channel and observed the transmission time taken for 50 messages which are having size of 1.5MB each, from source to the destination queue manager.

For BatchSize 1

It took 16 mins

For BatchSize 3

It took 13 mins

For BatchSize 6
It took 8 mins

For BatchSize 9

It took 7 mins

at the same bandwidhth and network conditions

but i m surprised to realize how the batch size attribute can heavily effect the transmission time

can anybody explain me on this

thanks in advance

Why?

The product documentation can. Common sense probably gives some clues.

There are also some tuning & performance papers on the IBM site you might find interesting reading.

I already went throught the documentation, i know it effects the time but i wont think it will be making minutes of difference , thats why i got surprised.

Thanks

Then you'll find the performance papers well worth a read. Batch size is a key tuning attribute.

But remember that batch size is also a key tuning parameter depending on the quality of your connection (noise, interference, etc...)
