Using workflow 3.6 buildtime, I know there is duration setting in activity.
I am trying to set the duration for process instance, but I do not see any properties in process control. But i noticed there is "Duration of process" under Staff, do I need to set duration here, if the process need to be terminated automatically after certain length of time?
Thanks in advance. |

Hi,
yes, the Staff tab in the process settings is the correct place to specify the process expiration. Either select a duration in seconds or select a container member that specifies the expiration dynamically. |

Aronimink:
You just need to realize that when you set the Duration of a process that what is going to happen is that there will be a Process Instance Notification. This is like setting durations on the Notification tab of the Activity settings, not setting an Expiration for an activity like you do on the Exit tab, which causes an activity to end in the expired state.
You are saying you want the process to automatically terminate after a period of time, that is only going to happen if you recognize that the Process Instance Notification has occurred and react to it i.e. use the API to terminate the process.

I do not want the instances to become just expired state.
I wanted to terminate them. I guess best way to do that is to cretae "Clean up" job using API to terminate old instances.
Anyway, thank you both responding my question. |
