We are running MQ V7 on Z/OS and are getting intermittant msgs building up on one of our xmitq's. We have a disconnect interval of 300 seconds.
ADOPTMCA=YES
ADOPTCHK=ALL
Heartbeat interval=100
The messages do not process until we manually stop and start the channel. This only seems to occur in production and only on one particluar channel. I thought that the adoptmca would solve this issue.
What am I missing? Suggestions? |

Any errors logged in the CHIN address space SYSLOG?
Any errors logged at the receiving end?
Is this a new channel? Has it worked in the past?
What is the channel state when you 'have to stop and start" the channel? _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Channel state is running on both sides. So from an MQ perspective it thinks everything is fine. We see no error messages in the log. This channel works most of the time. We saw this error half a dozen times in the last year, then it seemed to have stopped after we implemented ADOPTMCA=YES. We have had this error now twice last week. Once we manually stop the channel on both sides and restart the messages are processed. |

I'm into guessing mode here...
Since the post subject mentions APPC channels: Any errors logged in the APPC address space? _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Where have you looked? APPC is a VTAM application. Did you look at the VTAM SYSLOG? Did you look at the system console log? _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Well guess what ADOPTMCA really only works AFAIK with receiver channels.
For sender channels it's a different ball game. If the channel thinks it's still up even though it isn't you'll have to stop it manually and restart it... _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

Are you saying that you STOP CHL() from the sender channel end; and that both ends then go into STOPPED state? _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.
