Hi - thx for the suggestion but that seems a bit drastic. I have read some other emails suggesting that the MQM group (capitals) is apparently ok.

Pls keep the suggestions coming!

Hi ... well, as I'm still facing the same issue, I though I might try the latest suggestion and removed the 'mqm' principal, defined the MQM principal, restarted the Tandem qmgr and ... it ain't workin'...

The error seen in the mqerrlg1 states:

AMQ9557: Queue Manager User ID initialization failed.

EXPLANATION:
The call to initialize the User ID failed with CompCode 2 and Reason 2035.
ACTION:
Correct the error and try again.

and now I can't connect to it via a client either.
