Thanks a lot.
I am trying to install WebSphere MQ 5.3 on a Windows 2000 Professional.
I am experiencing the following error all the time and caused default configuration process to halt:
AMQ7153 A license could not be installed for this copy of WebSphere MQ.
Explanation: A Production, Beta or Trial Period license could not be installed for this copy of WebSphere MQ. This is because the 'nodelock' file in the 'qmgrs/@SYSTEM' directory could not be created or updated.
User Response: Check the ownership and permissions of the 'qmgrs/@SYSTEM' directory.
I followed the instructions above to set permissions on 'qmgrs/@SYSTEM' to full control for everyone and still get the same error from time to time.
Anyone here can help out of this?
Thanks a lot.

You may want to check te following:
1. Check your system date and make sure it is valid.
2. reboot the pc after installation of mq
3. There is a file in your <mqmtop>/qmgrs/@system (Unix and WinNT). If you'd deleted this file or your MQ administrator user has no access
for it, you can get this message.

Checked and they are all okay.

Did.
3. There is a file in your <mqmtop>/qmgrs/@system (Unix and WinNT).
If you'd deleted this file or your MQ administrator user has no access
for it, you can get this message.
There was a file called amqcap.inf

I am still getting the same error....
I am logged in as a domain user that belongs to local admin group...
Now I am getting a little bit upset about MQ.... |

Stay calm!
I have the following in my <mqmtop>/qmgrs/@system directory:
Volume in drive E is E Serial number is 0C80:855B
Directory of E:\IBM\WebSphere MQ\Qmgrs\@SYSTEM\*
11/12/2002 19:20 <DIR> .
11/12/2002 19:20 <DIR> ..
11/12/2002 19:16 <DIR> errors
11/12/2002 19:17 1 amqcap.inf
11/12/2002 19:20 167 nodelock
168 bytes in 2 files and 3 dirs 8,192 bytes allocated
8,593,911,808 bytes free
The errors subdir is empty.
The nodelock file seems o be regenerated when mq starts up. I moved mine to another directory and ran 'strmqm'. The queue manager came up and stayed up. I looked in the directory and the nodelock file re-apperaed.
Not sure what to tell you at this point.
You did not install the 5.3 code on top of eval copy did you?

Hi,
and you installed it using the one and only user "Administrator" or root ?
Not just someother just connected to the administrator group ??
I've seen this problem with some IBM products...

Try logging in as the "local" administrator . _________________ Jeff

I remember that I used a domain account that belongs to local admin group to install MQ 5.2 successfully.
Will try that local admin user to configure.... |

I looked at another instance of MQ installation and pretty much it has all the stuff you listed out....except the nodelock... |

From the
http://mql3service.hursley.ibm.com:1111/cgi-bin/viewprb.pl?problem=426.PRB&MATCHWORDS=LICENCE+
Check date on the PC and ensure that it falls within the licence range.
Check the security on the qmgrs\@SYSTEM subdirectory and qmgrs\@SYSTEM\nodelock file.
If all else fails, and it is not possible to get the nodelock file created in the qmgrs\@SYSTEM directory you can (and this should not be made public knowledge) copy a nodelock file from an equivalent product install to the directory and it should be fine.

I too have recently encountered this installation problem on a Win2000 box, but this was on a v5.2 install. The differences between version might not be that different, so here's my tips.
Being that you have already verified that the installation is being performed as a local admin, and that the system date is ok, try these:
- Ensure that the local Admin is a member of the mqm group.
- Verify that the nodelock file and all the parent directories are owned/accessible by the mqm user (mqm-user and/or MUSER_ADMIN)
- Try running 'setmqprd AMQQPCERT.LIC' from a command line to establish "Production Mode" of the server. You may need to prefix a path to your copy of the amqqpcert.lic file.
I tried all of the above, amongst other things, but the problem still existed. I got around the error by just re-running the installation procedure after getting this error ... oddly enough there was no error the 2nd time around and all installed ok.
