Hi All,
I need to install the WMQ on Linux Active/Passive clustering environment. I also need to configure the WMQ QM clsurtering. Could you please share some important things that we need to keep in mind while setting up the above set up. I am going through the MC91 pdf.. please share the pointers to any other docs which can help me with the above requirement.
Thank you... _________________ -----------------------------------------------

1. Hunt through the site as there have been a number of discussions about problems with HA queue managers on Linux (more to do with the clustering software I believe).
2. Ensure you have a good and well tested rapid-rebuild strategy, i.e. in the event you have to delete/redefine the queue manager.
3. As to the queue manager being in a cluster, it is no different to a 'normal' queue manager.
4. Your back up of file systems should be handled by the Sys Admins so they should know about any potential 'gotchas'. _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

Thank you experk....
I understand after going through the MC91 that, we need to follow the normal steps to install the WMQ software on all the nodes..there is no special steps for installing in HA..Please correct me if I am wrong.
And I have another questions about the cluster configuration in HA (Active/Passive):
We create the QM and add them cluster on each of the active nodes. And on the passive nodes, we just run the halinkmqm script. Please let me know if my understanding is wrong _________________ -----------------------------------------------

From what I remember from the the documentation, you are correct. Please note that MC91 has been withdrawn from the SupportPac site but is archived - and the archive site states '...do not use for new projects...'.
I can't remember where I read it, but I'm reasonably certain, that HA set-ups now are achieved using '...the appropriate software for the platform...' meaning, I presume Veritas, IBM HACMP, etc.
As far as I am concerned, until all WMQ infrastructure in a site (and any Third Party connections) is V7.0.1 capable, there is still a good argument to be made for having 'classical' HA queue managers. _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

Yeah, I saw that the MC91 is withdrawn..Since I could not find any relevant docs, I am reffering to this..
Yes, I have also read it that we need to use some HA softwares for setting up the HA like : HACMP, Veritas Cluster Server....though not sure what will be used in our case.. _________________ -----------------------------------------------
