Hi All,
Could some one help me out to list out the steps to create the new Queue Manager on Z/OS..I don't want detailed description.
I am a new to MQ on Z/OS but slowly i need to start the work. I can appreciate can some one let me know the high level steps to create the queue manager on Z/OS. |

You'll do no better than the z/OS System Setup Guide which lists the 22 tasks required.

If you're new to z/OS as well you should immediately introduce yourself to the sys progs on your site. You'll need their input, if only for direction on what DASD they want you to use. If you're very new, pick up a tutorial on JCL as well.
Top tip - planning is everything on z/OS. It's much easier to define things than move them later. There's some useful material in the z/OS Planning guide about this, best way to store short messages, long messages, messages that don't sit on a queue for long, etc, etc.
And don't use page set zero for non-system objects! World of hurt there....

I have started refering the system setup guide. Little confusing.
If you have any high level bullet points kindly share with me.

Welcome to z/OS - most of it is confusing, not just the WMQ parts!

Those 22 task headings are the high level bullet points - wait until you start drilling down into the detail! There's a lot to do, and a lot to decide; I repeat my point about planning. Especially if (as is common) the queue manager is being used by CICS and/or participates (or will participate) in a QSG.
This is why there are 2 sets of WMQ administrator exams; one for z/OS, one for all other platforms.

System administration on a mainframe is an advanced task - requiring advanced skills. Everything is different on mainframes. With your limited z/OS skills, you will need an MVS systems programmer to assist and/or guide you through this.
The system admin guide (mentioned above) is the document for creating new qmgr instances - there are no shortcuts. This is not Windows/UNIX MQ.
You should consider taking some introductory courses on mainframes.

Let me know what type of fixes available for MQ 6.0 on Z/OS?
I know there are some fixpacks, refresh packs available for MQ 6.0 on Windows, Linux.. |

I have searched the IBM support website they have not given any fixpacks and refresh packs for MQ6.0 and MQ 7.0 on Z/OS.
But they are taking about HIPER and PE APAR, those i did not understand.
Can some one help me out, what is the use of this packs on Z/OS? |

These are what z/OS uses in the place of fix packs. Because z/OS has no single installed version of any software, APARs and HIPERs are used as needed.
You seriously need to get some generalised z/OS training.

Here is the short-list of things that are similar/identical from mainframe WMQ and midrange WMQ:
API's
MQSC
Software installation and queue manager creation are entirely different.

The truth of the matter is that it is extremely hard (if not impossible) to bluff your way through MQ on z/OS.
The MQ Admin side is fairly straightforward, but the installation and setup is a totally different kettle of fish.
You will need to understand things like z/OS subsystems, JCL, Security, assembler, linklist concatenations, etc.
You can definately cause a whole world of heartache in any one of these areas if you are not careful.
The sage advice is to get friendly with the site z/OS guru....you are going to need them!  |

You've already been advised to read the documentation! 
You'll find nothing more useful than the section in the Planning Guide helpfully titled "Planning to Install WebsphereMQ". If you have limited experience of z/OS I urge you to seek the assistance of more experienced people. Installation on z/OS is far, far more complex that running "setup.exe".
To be honest, I'd be surprised if the local sys progs actually allowed you to do this. They'll take your assistance on what needs doing, but they should review them against site standards & pre-existing software.
I again repeat my advice to plan first, install later. I also repeat the suggestion of myself and others to get some training - z/OS is like no other platform, and WMQ is not installed and administered like it is on other platforms.

You've been given this answer already.
If you can't read the answers on this page and understand how to find what you are asking for, then you are not very likely to be qualified to follow the installation procedure.
Let's be clear. Even *I* wouldn't attempt to install MQ on zOS without having had specific training on zOS itself. |
