... the London MOM / EAI market to me. Perhaps I should broaden that to:
"What combination of sexual favours and sycophantism will get me an interview
with anyone in London?"
<rant type="incoherrent,desperate">
I have now been unemployed for almost 5 months, and my funds are all but depleted.
I have trawled Monster, Reed, CWJobs, Jobserve etc. I have had quite a few calls by
agencies, but not one interview. There is always some lame excuse about some
uninspiring punctuation choice in the introduction paragraph of my CV, or insufficient
Java experience (when Java was not the focus of the Jobspec). I have even had a
jobspec changed under my nose from ESB Architect to PM. But the this last month has
been the most trying. I have had four different agencies contact me about the same job.
WTF!? Do these people not want to at least interview me? Or are they going to doodle
about until the cheapest set of hands they could ever find has been forced to return to
the Third World, since my visa clearly states: "No recourse to public funds!"
Is there a certain fashion accessory or buzz-word that would make prospective
employers magically swoon at my skills, or should I be going to a special pub to hob-nob
with the right people? At the moment I will stoop to great depths to start paying the bills!
</rant>
Give me guidance oh wise ones!
If anyone needs an MQ/UNIX/Java savvy tea-boy or toy-boy ... PM me! _________________ Here's an idea - don't destroy semaphores unless you're certain of what you're doing! -- Vitor |

There is no such thing as a "safe" technology - it's only safe until the "next big thing" comes along. Back in my day, mainframe COBOL was a "safe" technology. Now how often do you see jobs ads for that?

I promised the magistrate I'd never talk about this again...

I'm surprised by this; I'd expect a few interviews in that time frame, even if it's just agencies glad handing.

At least they're still considering you.

I've no clue where you're pitching yourself in terms of rate, but I'll give odds there are cheaper people out there. How much these people know is highly questionable, but you're better focusing on you as the value proposition - "not the cheapest but the best value".

Welcome to the UK.

I applaude your attitude. While reaching for another drink and a bottle of hair restorer.

And for a small consideration, I can provide you with a full list of my master's predilections - photo's cost extra though
Seriously though, it seems to be a 'thing' with UK agencies that four of them will chase you down for the same job, and I've found they don't tend to know that WebSphere is a multitude of disciplines - they don't seem to read past the W. _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

I've had recruiters here in the states call me up randomly and offer me a GREAT JOB as a junior websphere admin for $35k a year.
I should probably start putting my years of experience before that first w. |

At your age, I would open only one site at a time with least affect of caffine. Certainly !! Or probably I would become like that without any efforts. with least strings of hair on the top of my unfertilized land. Unless, by then, I would be able to avail medical magic by both physically and by the help of money. _________________ *Life will beat you down, you need to decide to fight back or leave it. |

Hmmm, I hear mumbles of masters and predelictions and trout swingers ... but I see no
concrete offers ... could it be that our man Mr. Brown has overlooked the alternative
employment market in his world saving efforts?
Seriously though, if anyone hears so much as a rumour of a friend, of a fifth cousin, twice
removed, from a publican at your local, who is looking for some integration goodness ...
purdy please whiff sugar on top, let me know! _________________ Here's an idea - don't destroy semaphores unless you're certain of what you're doing! -- Vitor |
