One of my customers connects to a queue manager using a Java client program. It sometimes runs for several days’ error free, and then begins receiving a 2009 return code.

None of the MQ error logs take notice of any channels abending.

Documentation for return codes from IBM makes the following statement:

Note that for MQ client applications it is possible that the call did complete successfully, even though this reason code is returned with a CompCode of MQCC_FAILED.

I am not a Java programmer, but I have written several client programs in C. I have never had to write a client to "tolerate" a 2009 return because it may be erroneous.

Any ideas?

My queue manager is running on AIX. The customers client is running on UNIX, but I think it is HP, not AIX.

Hope this helps

Bill

I am also experiencing the same problem where I get 2009 return codes from MQ after it worked fine for days. I also believe it is related to network errors because I also have a connection manager to Oracle that reports the following at the same time. (java.sql.SQLException:
Io exception: Connection reset by peer: socket write error)

I would like to know if it is possible to code around this issue or if there is another solution to the problem? If possible can you give me some sample coding to get around this.

We have MQ version 5.1 running on NT 4 server. JDK version 1.4.1.

Thanks
