I have a requirement is to generate an UUID (using UUIDASCHAR) and convert just the most significant segment to a decimal. Would appreciate if someone can help me with the ESQL to achieve this.

For example : if the generated UUID is '7ae6e91d-fb39-4ec0-b220-02e321d366b1' then I would like to covert just '02e321d366b1' part to decimal (base10) value.

Requirement is too narrow to make much sense.
What problem is this requirement supposed to solve?

You could search for an algorithm or even an implementation in Java. Heres one I found after a quick search:

Not wanting to take anything away from fjb_saber though, why are you trying to do this?

I'm confused.

Why isn't CAST, and possibly SUBSTRING, sufficient?
