Ah, a euphemism. Like outplaced instead of fired. Or, donation instead of theft (IBMs reference to mainframe WLM). Or, reorganization instead of lemmings running off the edge of a cliff.

I speak management, but with something of an accent. I can't quite manage "functionally deficient" when I mean "broken".

Ah! Is that like "...congratulations on your positive selection to the employee redeployment pool...", i.e. you're fired! (with thanks to Dilbert).

I'm now back off to me enclosed workspace...

Yes, that gives an idea of how they cope with unfamiliar situations, their self confidence, worldly knowledge, social skills, business acumen, honesty.

As one of your countrymen would say...I'm buggered! Too much time spent locked in a dungeon.

If you've been buggered we need to check the locks on the outside doors!

I prefer the term "enclosed workspace" myself.

ref. Australian Slang, A to E- http://www.geocities.com/napavalley/4699/slang-atoe.htm
The word has 13 listed variations which are all in common use.

buggered - broken; very tired

also means no further hope, beyond recovery. "His chances of success were buggered"

There is a classic book called "Let's talk Strine" (Strine = an approximation of how Aussies slur the word 'Australian'). Non-Aussies find almost impossible to read and it is very funny. ref. http://isbndb.com/d/book/let_stalk_strine.html The text is not online AFAIK.

I'm considered an ethnic minority. On the plus side only one person has insulted me to my face. On the minus side he's both the county commissioner and the next door neighbor......
