We have a new application in place, and it seems that we are receiving random replies from amqrmppa. The structure is request: Application > MB > MF Response: MF > MB > Application.
On the application response queues, I am seeing some odd messages kind of randomly. The message is MQHEPCF format and is a Report. It contains random information about the request and the queue managers and also contains "@Receiving Message Channel Agent" & amqrmppa in the data. I can also find this same message in our DLQ on the broker since the broker was unable to process the response due to data formatting errors.
I would appreciate any help on this as I am totally stumped. |

The application or your flow is configuring the request messages to ask for report messages from the queue manager. |

Ah, well that's a little less scary than I had imagined. It must be the application as this service is used be many different applications. Thanks |

Do you know off hand which flags have to be set in the code to request a report message? |

The report options detailed in the APR would be a good place to start I think. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

I'm in there - Appendix E. I'm just having trouble understanding it. |

Do not despair. It's fairly straightforward, just a series of flags. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

WMQ Application Programming Reference manual. Find the section on the MQMD (message descriptor); then look for Report Options. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Thanks Bruce; I'll check that out also. One last question. If the message was marked as persistent, are reports generated automatically? |

The two are entirely unrelated. |

Same manual. Same section. Persistence field. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Thanks Bruce, that's a great manual. They dumb it down just the right amount. |

The two app development bibles (small b) for WMQ are the WMQ Application Programming Reference, and WMQ Application Programming Guide. Great reads, both. (Although plot-line is slim, and cast of characters is wanting...) _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.
