Hi Experts,
I need to know one thing. Please help me. I am working in migration space wherein I need to migrate an application in legacy system like mainfarmes, COBOL et to contemprory technologies like JAVA/.NET. My question is, how does Message Queuing helps in Migrating from one platform to another or in upgrading from one version to another?
Many thanks. |

So, you are trying to migrate a MQ application written in Mainframe to something like windows or aix .
Is my understanding correct? _________________ Thimk |

Another classicaly fundamental question from Sonal that shows absolutly no effort on his part to try and find the answer himself.
The only advice I will give to you is read about the advantages Message Orientated Middleware gives you in the first place. |

A mainframe is contempory technology. Far more capable and secure than anything else. Does web services and all the rest. |

MQ supports lots of platforms with a consistent API and automatic message conversion. This makes MQ one of the *least* of your worries when migrating between languages and platforms.
BTW, IBM mainframe (zSeries) is alive and well, and moving with the times. Its a big investment, but it has 45 years of software evolution, to host almost any software paradigm with rock solid infrastructure. _________________ Glenn |
