Hi All,
Please can anyone direct me to a good step by step sample for publish/subscribe style of messaging.
I went through the Pager, Soccer, Scribble sample provided with broker toolkit but none gives the steps to build one. Also if we need to run the Pager sample we need the default configuration i guess.
If anyone can direct me it would be great.
Thanks.

You don't need a default config to install any of the samples. The information supplied with each sample tell you how to manuall setup and deploy the samples.
Use them as a starting poing for future experiments that take you towards the type of solution you want.
I did this with the EmailOutput Node and then used it successfully in a Production solution.

I am not sure how did you achieve the same with Pager application.
The reason i am saying this is
1. When I click on the 'Setup the Pager sample' option, it comes up with a window which has two options, i.e. 'Import Sample' and 'Create the default Configuration'. On click the first option it only imports the project to my workspace. On clicking the second option it will create the default configuration which i dont want.
2. Even after selecting the first option and deploying the bar file manually, when I run the 'Surf watch' and 'Pager' applications, the pager application gives an error which says that it is not able to connect to WBRK61_DEFAULT_QUEUE_MANAGER. Which is the QM which is created as a part of default configuration.
I hope I am able to convey my problem correctly.

To clarify what I said.
You can follow the instructions given in the information relating to the sample and Manually configure your Broker to run the sample.
Using the 'Setup...' option assumes that you are using the default configuration as you found out. _________________ WMQ User since 1999

Do correct me if i m wrong ... in the samples they have not mentioned how to configure the sample manuall for eg. what MQ objects needs to be created, is there a topic or subscription to be created etc ...
Also I am not sure how do i start the 'Surf Watch' and 'Pager' applications outside the sample, i.e. apart from clicking on the link provided in the sample??? |
