Hi
we're running MQ 5.3 CSD10 on AIX 5.2.
We noticed the following behaviour in our production environment today.
When a queue was created and when there were no messages, the size of the queue file (/usr/mqm/qmgrs/QMNAME/queues/QNAME/q) was 1620 bytes.Due to sudden inflow of 50,000 messages to that queue, the queue file size crossed 9 GB.The getting application was slowly picking up the messages and the size of the q file didn't come down (even after the depth came to 0).
When will the queue file size come to its default size?
We are upgrading to 6.0 soon and is it occuring on MQ 6.0 also?
Thanks |

This question has been asked, and answered, many times before...try searching, and also UPGRADE! _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

Also queue files do not have a "default" size. They might have a typical size when empty. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Apologies for my bad search in the forum. Everything is there in striking the right keyword.
The issue got resolved. Queue file size came down considerably (to 1 GB)after 50% messages were picked up by the receiving application and to the initial size after clear ql() was issued. |
