I am able to install mq7 on Vista Business with sp2. But when I issued command to create queue manager or dspmq, it gave me the following error:

MQ7077: You are not authorized to perform the requested operation.

I have installed the product, installed the RP 1 ( just released yesterday) and my id is in admin and mqm group.

What else ?

I do not remember whether I did in xp or vista, but I have installed mq 7 there was not any problem that time.

I am wondering whether I need to do anything special

An when you looked up AMQ7077 in the WMQ v7 Messages manual, what did it tell you? What did it suggest you do? What happened when you tried?

What platform?

What username?

I have answered both of you questions in my previous post. It is vista business, MQ7 with RP 1. ( just released 2 days ago - 28 th august). I am the administrator of the computer. I even add my id to mqm group.

This is what AMQ7077 says:

AMQ7077 You are not authorized to perform the requested operation.

Explanation: You tried to issue a command for the queue manager. You are not authorized to perform the command.
User Response: Contact your system administrator to perform the command for you. Alternatively, request authority to perform the command from your system administrator

This does not give me any clue as such.

What username did you use to install?

Do you get the same error with Administrator username?

Any error in the error logs?

ACTION:
Add the user to the local 'mqm' security group and retry the operation.

But I have added my id already to mqm group.

Does Vista Business also have UAC? Is it on? If it's on, try running a command windows using elevated privilege, then issue commands in that command windows.

Thanks. I got the following ibm site which explains about UAC on vista. I was not aware of it. I have just installed vista ( in fact came with my new laptop).
