Alas! So the only WESB project who came forward isn't really a WESB project at all. It seems like I'm going to have to brave my way into this POC alone
It's going to be a pretty thorough POC, approx three months with four people, and we're acutally going to implement some of the client's existing adapters and functionality. I'll post any interesting findings when I find them (and if confidentiality allows).
Thanks very much for the replies, oh grand-poobah to be! Anyone else care to join us, that has had WESB experience? |

In this industry, there appears from time-to-time, a TLA (three-letter acronym) that professes to be the silver-bullet for our collective woes. (Less frequently, ETLAs.) ESB fits into this general category.
ESB is middle-middle-wear. It seems to offer much more for newly developed application systems. In this economy, there is little incentive to retrofit.
Portions of the ESB came from what IBM called its common connector facility - middle-middle wear that enabled apps to call, SOA-like, other apps.
I'm all in favor of ESB and SOA, and their capabilities. I include them in discussions of the possibilities with clients. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Whatever you call it, its really just the next phase of evolution where integration is done on a grander scale and in a more abstract sense (eg. Web Services). All the existing integration will be hooked in (eg. Datapower) and will eventually be reintegrated to use more contemporary methods. MQ and WMB will continue to be a key part of that for along time to come. _________________ Glenn |
