Hi,
Do you know... is there any website where someone can go and can access MainFrame for some hands on creation/edit/delete of JCL, creation/edit/delete MQ QueueManagers and its components.
Is there any LPAR dedicated to do that for the external users where someone can Register and login and then can access it for sometime ?
Mostly I am concerned about the Websphere MQ product for this platform.
Appreciate your suggestion.

Not AFAIK. MQ setup and installation on z/OS mainframe involves work by several different teams such as Systems Programmers, Security, Storage, Operations, Monitoring. There is also a fair degree of planning involved.
Do you have any experience with z/OS ? _________________ Glenn |

I don't think you'll find anyone willing to give you access to his MF. There are, however, MF for PC emulation products out there, though they're usually pretty flaky. I had a friend who played around with something called "Hercules" about five years back, maybe it's still around.
As for porting MQ into MF emulations, I have no idea.. |

A bit of.
I know the difficult points when it comes to MF., but as far as MQ is concerned basic stuff can be done without much difficulty under the guidance of seniors.
As in this IT industry there are lots of MF professionals, its strange why this kind of requirement never came..or if came why this was not being materialized or if it has been materialized then where it is ? _________________ *Life will beat you down, you need to decide to fight back or leave it. |

I think the "issue" is that MF hardware is traditionally expensive, and the mindset that surrounds the administration is "don't touch". If you need to use MF it's because you're on a site that has one you can use.
I used Hercules back in the day, and that had v5.? running on it but the sys prog who set it up was old school: white beard, t-shirt, spoke English as a second langage (his first was Assembler/F) and I've no clue how he managed it.
My opinions & nostalgia, other views and war stories equally valid. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Oh. These are class rooms. And Paid.
Isn't any, where one is not being taught and he/she is just doing study and practice on his/her own. (ya, If he/she needs any help then they would ask their seniors / look up forums.) Just independent learning.

I'm not sure if you are looking for classroom training nearby where you live, or free training, or what.
From time-to-time WM300 is taught to-your-desktop via an internet connection. You get so see and hear the instructor and other students, and do lab exercises on a z/OS image with WMQ. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

1. z/OS isn't the easiest system for independant learning so the traditional route is paid classes or mentoring by in-site people.
2. The z/OS hardware so expensive most people who own it don't allow free access, but sell time on it. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

WAS is on the list (bottom of webpage), but not WMQ. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.
