Back up the queue manager objects, delete the queue manager, recreate the queue manager with the appropriate logging method, and repopulate the objects. Search the forums, as there is plenty of discussion elsewhere about 'fudging' it.

As to situations where it may occur? Change of requirement due to application changes is about the only one I can think of.

You cannot change the type of LOG unless you delete and recreate the Queue Manager!

C'est là vie

YOu can switch from circular to linear logging or vice versa.. when you understand the pros and cons of each of those facilities.
It depends on the requirement by the infrastructure team.
YOu can read the Logging in the MQ Redbook for that.

Have a look at this too:

Bad choice of phrasing as it implies the ability to flip between the two at will.

Really , so at your shop you can just delete and create queue managers '...at your will...' just to change the logging? And it's not tough because you don't have change management, compliance, planning etc.? Impressive.

I meant to convey that changing the logs is not an impossible task.. its situational when its a business critical.
As I have already said that changing the logs facility in the system, all depends on the decision of infrastructure and applications teams.

If some one don't plan/think/put forward the idea .. this question wouldn't have appeared.

Ya if you are doing experiments on your local system.. then IT is at your will.
