I have been working with MQ a lot, but I'm a newbie on iSeries.
So, I try to map all iSeries qmgrs to my window box.
I have 2 remote iSeries boxes, one with MQv5 and one with MQv7.
From my Windows box I can remotely connect the v5 qmgr but not the v7 one. It refuses to connect and I get error messages 'Access not permitted' (AMQ4036).
I have spent hours on comparing the two iseries MQ:s.
The only difference is that the new one is runing MQv7. Otherwise they are alike, with channels, command serves and so on.
Anyone recognising this?

Look at the access control settings on the i-Series (this is external to MQ).
Check out the MQ log to see which object is causing the MQRC 2035 (I assume that is the underlying problem). |

Sorry, but I checked the log. It's empty.
I suggest that when you speak about logs you mean on iSeries:
go cmdmqm
work with queue managers
Option 26, work with logs.
... or are there other logs I can check? |

Read chapter 8 of the Websphere MQ for iSeries Adminstration Guide.
IBM manual number SC34-6586-00

You can find diagnostic information about WebSphere MQ in the following places: User’s job log The job log records the commands processed by the job and the messages returned from running those commands. Reviewing the job log of a user who experiences a problem, by issuing the DSPJOBLOG command, identifies the WebSphere MQ commands issued and the sequence of those commands. WebSphere MQ job log WebSphere MQ specific jobs, for example, the command server and channel programs, run under the WebSphere MQ profile QMQM. If you have a problem in these areas, review these job logs by issuing the command WRKSPLF QMQM to display them. System history log Reviewing the history log, by issuing the DSPLOG command, displays information about the operation of the system and system status. This can be useful for identifying channel connection problems. OS/400 message queue It is useful to view messages sent to various OS/400 message queues using the DSPMSG command. Use the command DSPMSG QSYSOPR to check the system operator message queue, used for WebSphere MQ journaling messages, and job completion messages in particular. Error logs in the IFS See “Error logs” on page 114 for further information on using the error logs generated. Generation of FFSTs See “First-failure support technology (FFST)” on page 117 for further information on First Failure Support Technology™ and an example of a WebSphere MQ for iSeries FFST report. |
Try the error logs first. You may have to run a trace. |

If you mapped the logs to your HFS, then you can look at AMQERR01, 02 and 03 logs |
