Hi,
I have installed MQ v5.3 CSD08 on Windows few months back at one of our customer locations. Now, they are reporting that .TRC files are getting generated every second 1MB each. Some .TRC files reach upto 35MB. Consequently the drive in which MQ has been installed is running out of space . I have tried issuing the command 'endmqtrc' but in vain. Could anyone help me out in resolving this issue as it is critical. Thanks in advance.

You may need to have the trace process killed with a -9.
Before you go that extreme route though make sure that the user that is running the trace is also attempting the shutdown of it.
Have fun _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

And, if they must use V5.3 (lord knows why...) at least ramp it up to CSD14. _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

There is no reason to do this; especially not that CSD. Apply mantenance if you simply must use v5.3 but....

....if this WMQ setup is so critical they would be using a supported version of WMQ so they could call IBM when this sort of thing happens. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

thanks for the replies...
am not sure what sort of '-9', fjb_saper is referring to. Could you please elaborate on it? Moreover, upgrading to a higher version of MQ or even patching is quite difficult as they need to complete hell a lot of fomalities in their organisation.. Kindly bear with this excuse..
Also, I found that AMQERR01.LOG was missing in C:\Prog Files\IBM\Websphere MQ\Errors. Will I be wrong, if i suspect those trace files are getting generate just because AMQERR01.LOG is missing?
If that so, could anyone suggest how to create it manually?
Thanks a lot!!

Make sure you end trace for all the QMs
You can issue "endmqtrc -a" and see if the files are getting generated. |

This is not the cause of any problems. When MQ needs to write something to this file, it will create it if its not present. _________________ Peter Potkay

Which does not apply on Windows, Sun Ray. _________________ Peter Potkay

kill is a UNIX command.
The equivalent on Windows (and equally dangerous) would be going to Task Manager/Processess, selecting a process, then clicking End Process. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.
