Environment:
----------------
Windows 2003 VMWare
WMQ 6.0.2.2
Issue:
--------
We have WMQ installed on Windows 2003 server VMWare under domain controller. The WMQ service is configured to run under "domain/mquser" which is member of "domain mqm" domain group. The "IBM MQseries service" is configured to start automatically but off late, it doesn't start automatically when the server is rebooted. But the strange thing is we are able to manually start the service successfully. There are no clues in QM error logs, WMQ error logs or Event Viewer entries (application, system). It seemed to work until few weeks ago but not any more.
I never worked on VMWare and not sure if that is causing issues. Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.
Thanks,
crony |

you need to verify first in your services view (services.msc?) that your MQ service is indeed set to start automatically or if it is set to start manually.
You may also want to verify the user/passport of the service user starting the MQ service. You should make that a user that cannot login interactively and make a password that does not expire...

You should also verify that the domain user has the necessary privileges to act as a service and to be an administrator on the local environment. |

Every once in a great while (once every 4-6 months or so) we see the same issue here too.
In my opinion, I don't think VMWare servers have as robust a relationship with the Domain Controllers as physical servers. Every once in a while they lose connectivity with them, and if that happens as the service is attempting to start.....
It happens so infrequently I haven't bothered persuing it. _________________ Peter Potkay

Thanks everyone for responding.
fjb_saper: As mentioned in my initial post, the service is configured to start automatically.
mqjeff: I believe the userid does have the required privileges from the fact that the service starts when started manually.
Peter: Ah..I have someone out there with similar issue, eases me little bit . Now my question is, does it get fixed itself after some time once you face this issue? In our case, it has been happening since few weeks and every time the server is rebooted, it needs a manual intervention. |
