Hi there,
After using the trail version for 3 months, we just purchased the MQ V7. software and downloaded the software - close to 6.5 gig.
Heres the irony though - my trail version came with a nice set of instructions to install. But my purchased version is nothing but huge zip files with no instructions what so ever.
I am just staring at 25 zip files - close to 200 mb each. Nothing else. Dont know which file to extract - there are no instructions at all.

can someone help me out here ?

All of them?

I'd then have thought the installation procedure would have been similar to the trial version you used but having never used the trial I cant confirm this!

Looks like it !

But one would think that there would be a single executable suitable for my platform, which when executed treats me like a king giving me various options and completes the installation procedure. May be thats the ideal world.

Now I have to open all the zip files look for the contents which say - "click me" - perfect for a monday morning !

I suddenly lost faith in humanity.

The Quick Beginnings manual for your platform should have what you need.

Yeah, that happens. You'll be less disapointed in future.

I agree with my associate.

There's a paperback book with this similar title: "I Feel Much Better Now That I'Ve Given Up Hope"

You shouldn't have needed that many zip files.

You should be able to go back to to your software download page, and relate the name of the zip files to a description that will tell you what each package contains.

I thought you were kidding. This would have dampened my spirits, if I still had raised spirits.

First of all, this is the solution for all my problems in life http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?fdoc=aimwmq&rs=171&uid=swg24019472

Can you see a tiny entry which says CZ0EHML - yup thats what I am looking for.

Alas, I wish only my life was that simple. But no ! when I go to my passport page, it just relentlessly gives me two options - download the entire 6.5gb or die.

The quick beginnings is tightly packed inside a zip file again which is very appropriately named as C19LIML.

Thats it I am ordering http://www.amazon.com/Feel-Much-Better-That-Given/dp/0880071478 right away.

Become familiar with IBM's WMQ home page www.ibm.com/mqseries. There you will find a clickable named Library. From there you can pick your favorite version, and then begin downloading manuals.

http://www-01.ibm.com/software/integration/wmq/library/quickbeginnings.html is the exact webpage for the Quick Beginnings manuals.

thanks much guys !

I installed MQ trial version couple of times before. But just baffled to see that, the trail version is much easier and manage than the purchased version.

In Passport Advantage, at the page it takes you to when you select MQ 7, turn off the check mark for MQ 7, expand that selection and then only check mark the package you want. By default Pasport Advantage thinks you want to download anything and everything it has on MQ 7.
