I saw an announcment from IBM that it was supporting Amazon EC2 web services which use Amazon SQS largely, how do you think will WMQ in for the clouds get affected by this? Also, does any one know if IBM has some facility to host WMQ for us (like on a timeshare/volume share basis)?

I think we've had a discussion similar to this before.

I think a major stumbling block (though not a barrier) to cloud computing in general & WMQ in cloud particually is convincing the average auditor / IT Security person that sending sensitive business data "into a cloud" is secure. In every sense of the word secure.

But as long as we have clouds, we need transport and WMQ provides means to secure our data anyways, what else do you see as challanges in using WMQ on the cloud?

Any cloud service providers that you have come across that use WMQ for transport?

I've no direct experience of using cloud services. The circle I move in treat them with considerable suspicion (in-house or trusted partners = safe, unknown cloud = dangerous).

I'll not comment of the actuality of security of data flowing through, being stored or being used in a cloud environment but the perception within decision makers.
