Honestly, I'm tired of defending our (silly) reasons for not upgrading. I was hoping for a little help from this great community.

I think the best you're going to get is sympathy. I've made a few calls & can't find anyone in my circle who's using v5.3.anything on Solaris 10 (some of the bounders don't frequent the forum) so I think you're in uncharted terratory rather. Like I said earlier in this thread, it does seem like a new problem coming from this combination of software.

As stated before, I'll provide an update once I find a fix. (I will find a fix, btw.)

That's the spirit!

Well we all work in different places so you've bags of choice

No, you need a far more assertive (or trout laden) view of silliness like this. We've all encountered it, and I repeat that I at least have sympathy with your position. If I had GBP5 for each time I'd been told I couldn't upgrade the software "because there's no business benefit" I'd be rich.

You just work through it. Which I agree is often easier said than done.

I look forward to your posting of the solution.

Was your queuemanager created by 5.3? If it was converted from an older version(5.2), recreation possibly helps? But install the CSD first.

Did you search for Probe ID ZD005030?

The QM was created by WebSphere during installation. (so, yes, it was created by 5.3)

As promised, an update for the records....

We found the issue to be the OS patch level on the server.

We found this article:

http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&context=SSFKSJ&dc=DB560&dc=DB520&uid=swg21376815&loc=en_US&cs=UTF-8&lang=en&rss=ct171websphere

While it didn't call out our error specifically, it did give us a clue that 5.3 may have issues with Solaris 10. We had to downgrade our patch level to get it to work. Generic_127111-11

Thanks for all of the support (and sympathy).

....now to upgrade these servers.

Isn't it amazing how the site "we can't upgrade these servers" you were suffering from evaporates in the face of evidence?

I'm glad someone's finally grasped the "out of support" concept and allowed you to get on with what you knew was the proper solution all along.
