I need to install MQ5.3 and perform remote administration using domain id in Windows 2003 server..
So far, I already try to configure domain user in vmware according to the steps to test this out. One image to act as Domain controller server and another image to run MQ 5.3. When I run the prepare MQ wizard, I am not successfully to complete the steps.
I hit the error message "Websphere MQ is unable to log on with the domain name, user name and password specified."
I am able to log on Windows at MQ server using domain id.
Please provide the appropriate information when I need to utilize MQ with domain controller.
Please provide any guidance as soon as possible. |

No you don't. There is no good reason to be installing v5.3 any more.

What you need is a miracle. If you search the forum, you'll find much discussion on the use of domain ids with WMQ. Even if you got the install to complete, you'd have trouble later.
Install the product (and I mean v6 or later) using a local admin account, and then make the relevant changes to use the domain account for ongoing administration. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I will continue to research on the use of domain ids with WMQ in this forum.
I need to install MQ5.3 and integrate it with domain id due to my requirement from client.
Yesterday I also tried to run Prepare MQ wizard in MQ6.0. I sill thit the same error, "Websphere MQ is unable to log on with the domain name, user name and password specified." [/quote] |

Your client is taking a serious risk trying to use v5.3 and should be told. There's no reason WMQ can't be administered with domain user, just not installed or operated with one.

I install MQ on Windows (about 40 servers so far) logging on with my Domain ID. My Domain ID is in the local Admin group.
MQ then runs under another domain account that is in a domain group[ called "domain mqm", and that "domain mqm" group is in the local mqm group.
The details of this is in the Windows Quick Beginnings guide. That domain mqm group and the domain service account need specific things set by the Active Directory guys, again detailed in Quick Beginnings, _________________ Peter Potkay
