Have you perused the DB2 support pages on http://www.ibm.com to see if this version of DB2 is indeed supported on XP (SP3)
That would be my first port of call if I got this sort of error.

Hi,
Thanks for the quick response.Yes, I have done that already and I have observed that DB2 v9.1 is supported for windows,as per installation doc and here windows means Windows XP Professional (with service level SP2) , Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition and Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition.
And I am trying to install the same in Windows XP Home Edition(with service level SP3).So please help me in installing the same Or confirm me that I can not install IBM DB2 v9.1 in Windows XP(with SP3).

Thanks in advance.

Ahh! Now the plot thickens. I bet you the IBM support page never said anything about Home Edition. You need XP Professional or Enterprise Edition or whatever Micro$oft calls it.

So here you are trying to install ENTERPRISE software on a HOME O/S.
If I'd tried this and recevied the error you did, I would have stopped right there and installed XP Pro and started again.
I'm not surprised that you got the error you did.

If you can't afford an XP Pro License then why not head over to www.centos.org and download something that will run broker and not cost you a dime, cent, penny, yen, rouble, rupee, peso or even Tenge.

On XP Home? Can't be a production machine, or even an Integration or Model Office set up. For an install on your own PC for local testing and playing, you don't need to use DB2.
