We are looking to deploy a Monitoring and Administrator tool for WebSphere MQ and Message Broker. I know of a few such tools :

OMEGAMON XE -- by IBM Tivoli
QPasa! –
BMC MAINVIEWby MQSoftware – BMC Software
Contact Admin M6 Transaction Monitor for WebSphere MQ – by contact admin

My question is regarding BMC MAINVIEW. Does it support MQ Managers installed on different OS (Windows, Solaris, OPEN VMS etc) or only z/OS. The tool can be installed only on z/OS or other OS also.

Kindly give your inputs on other tools also. We have a huge platform with at least 15 MQ installations on different platforms.

What did the BMC website say about platforms supported?

The info on BMC website is a little indirect. But as i could understand, it says that the product is meant to support MQ on various platforms but the application is meant to be installed on z/OS.

Are you talking about BMC Patrol?. If so, it will support MQ on different OSs.

Thanks.

Hi Vaishnav !!

We are using Mainview called Boolea from BMC.

Here we have installed it on Z/OS and we can see all the Queue managers on UNIX AIX, Windows NT and Z/OS.

Regarding instllations and configurations I am bit ignorant to guide you but surely this is great efficient tool. Even we can delete a particular messages using this tool on any queue (local) which we cant do using unix i guess.
