I wanted to know the areas where MQSeries Integrator is used. Being relatively new to this software I was under the impression that message transformation can be done using ordinary APIs too, especially if the transformation is pretty easy. In these situations does using the Integrator help in any way? Thanks for the input.

Hi,
We use WMQI for legacy to S.W.I.F.T message transformation.
You can also use it for routing!

Hope this helps.

To use WmQI in a corporation, you have to see it in a large perspective. Usually midsize corporation to large corporation develops or buy many Products over their time of business.

Now the business demands that these applications should talk to each other to provide a good integrated service to customers, vendors or employees.

You can use brute force approach to do it. But then eventullay you will land up with many application talking to many application, which will make your administration impossible or very difficult and expensive.

So WMQI helps you to acts as a hub for transformaing and routing the information between these applications.

Hope this helps.

Lisa, how do you transform SWIFT messages? Are you using MRM or are you using a custom node?

Hi Lung,
I'm using the MRM-TDF. We currently use SWIFT MT515, MT509, MT518 and MT599.

Please refer to support pact ID05 - WebSphere MQ Integrator - Tagged/Delimited message examples. This support pac is useful. You can also take a look at the WMQI Redbook.

Please post any questions and I will try to help.

I'm not using SWIFT messages... For my implementation we're actually using ISO8583 messages (the one they use for banks). Heard that it's similar... Is it?

Anyway, anyone here uses ISO8583 messages with MQSI before? How did u guys do it?

Hi Lung, I'm not sure if SWIFT and ISO8583 are similar.

Thanks, Lisa. I'll try and see what I can find out about SWIFT messages... And if the two are indeed similar, then maybe I'll need your help.

Hi, Lisa,

I am glad to hear that you are doing similar work as I do. We are using different solutions. My solution is to call NEON SWIFT Library with msgflow by using NEON nodes.

I notice that except MT 599, the rest messag type you are dealing with are not simple at all. So, my question is how long did it take to build msgset for each of them? Was it easy to achieve? Are you using them for both generating outgoing and parsing incoming SWIFT messages? Within one message flow? Do you have any advise if I want to try same path?

Thanks a lot in advance

Hi Yanghui,
I started with the MT515 message. This is the request message type used for Govt. Bond trades. You will receive MT509 (Ack message) and MT518 (Advisories messages). Once the MT515 was completed, it was easy to finish the other two messages.

It took me two-three months to complete the assignment. Please note that my company did not send me to class and I used the support pacs mentioned in my earlier posting as a guide.

Question:
Are you using them for both generating outgoing and parsing incoming SWIFT messages? MT515 used for outgoing messages and MT599, MT509 and MT518 are incoming messages. The messages are transformed to/from COBOL copybooks.
Within one message flow? Two message flows are used, one for outbound messages and the other for inbound messages.

Do you have any advise if I want to try same path? Use the support pac, it contains message type MT100 and MT105.

Hope this helps,
Lisa
