On Windows: Task Manager

On Unix: ps command

On z/OS: Relevent CICS or JES command

Open handle on the init queue is probably a good indication, but not definitive.

How do you check any program is running?

Also, look at the open count (or usage) on the initiation queue.

Take listener as an example. We can use control command to check whether listener is running or not. But why not control command is available to check trigger monitor?

Of course we can check runmqlsr as an alternative.

A listener is a first class object in WMQ. A Trigger Monitor is not. Runmqtrm is,more or less, a *sample* program.

Services are also first class objects in WMQ. You can define a Service that will start and stop runmqtrm, then you will have commands to check that.

I'm sure neither of you actually think runmqlsr is a trigger monitor.
