Hi,

I've been migrating my plug-ins to 6.1 from 6.0 and it's all gone swimmingly well except for deployment.

I'd really like to try keeping my plug-ins in a central network location (obviously version controlling it etc.) to see how it performs. However, try as I might I can't get the plug-ins to show using either the link or extension approach (copying the files to the plugins folder works a treat as you would expect!).
N.B. My installation is combined with RAD7 but I don't think that should matter too much.

Has anyone got these approaches to work? If so, are there any nuances?

Thanks,

Does it work if the link or extension is to a local filesystem location rather than a network filesystem location?

Where are you adding the link or extension? I mean two things: a) what method are you using, and b) what actual location

I added a .link file to a links directory situated alongside my plugins directory in my installation. The file had "path=c:/blah/blah/etc" in it.

I also created another standalone directory with an eclipse directory containing and .eclipseextension file and plugins plus features sub-directories and used "Manage Configuration" to add that extension location.

No joy with either - the only thing that works is adding my plugins under the installation plugins directory.

Thanks,

I should have added that I've tried both of those configurations against local and network drives....
