Just Lately IBM announced that they are going to build MQ over the internet with the help of Amazon.
So far there are 3 main MQ implementation over the Internet.
SQS - Amazon service from 2007, simple Queue service that seems to be a success (No GUI).
OnlineMQ - Service from 2008, run with Joyent cloud (With GUI).
CloudMQ - Service from 2009, it is basically using SQS underwater (With GUI).
The main question seems to me like :
Does SaaS (Software as a service) MQ is more risky then installed MQ in internal network?
What it can be used for? |

My personal view: IBM Websphere Message Broker is the best in town.
I worked with SonicMQ and Tibco and IBM has a clear advantage over those.
Since all of those are in the same price range and the same price model and price is a factor this days even in big companies, there is a trend for using Internet MQ's.
Now, Can you imagine 10 years ago that a company will save their most precious customer information on the Internet?
Well, big companies like Honda, Cannon, and many others are using CRM over the Internet (SalesForce for example).
I myself prefer Gmail over my own company mail server.
Then, why not MQ? |

To open the debate:
Anything implemented outside the internal network is inherently more risky than inside. The question of "is it too risky" is an individual question, and is subject to the paranoia of your auditors among other factors. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

If you thought PCI compliance was difficult and complicated to ensure *inside* your network... |
