Hi All,
I am new to MQ clustering.
Now i have setup my cluster and i have 3 QMs in my cluster.
I have told my QMs to do workload balancing by specifying the CLWLUSEQ(ANY) for a locally hosted queue(TEST.LQ)
The TEST.LQ is present on all the 3 QMs..
Now
1. when i put a message using a MQ client , the messages go to all the 3 QMs..in other words workload balancing works!!!
2. when i setup sender/reciever pairs to a non-clustered MQ(say QM4), this is outside the cluster and when i put a message on to QM4 it comes to QM1( i have configured it this say).
But if QM4 keeps pouring messages to QM1 , there message are not getting distributed to other QMs in the cluster, in other words ..workload balancing doesn't work
Any idea what i might be doing wrong..
Thanks. _________________ Thimk |

We've inferred that from the number of cluster related posts.

Not reading the part of the documentation that talks about putting messages from outside the cluster?
Following from this, I would imagine in the link from QM4 to QM1 you've described QM1 as the destination queue manager. Hence WMQ is doing exactly what you've asked and is delivering the messages to the destination queue manager specified. For it to do what you want, not what you've said, you'll need extra objects as explained in the documentation segment I've referred to. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

No one on the forum is paid to answer questions; we're all volunteers with day jobs.

So poobah..
u must be really experienced in MQ now..
can u tell me the best way to implement clustering. the do's and dont's ..
my requirements is that we have a messaging backbone that uses MQ..
and its basically used for moving messages from Client - Client
Client - Server..
how would i move this architecture to clustering..
i also have many security exits and message exits setup in my so called messaging backbone that one my clients uses.
so yea..what would be the best way to move to clustering.
i want to use clustering for workload balancing ..not for simplifying intercommunications..
Thanks.. _________________ Thimk |

Yes...call him in as a consultant and pay him for the privilege! Just from your brief description, it's not a five-minute job, and as stated:

Read the clustering manual, read the clients manual, prototype in a representative environment. _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

Can certainly tell you all that. What sort of day rate are you talking about, what start date are you looking at and what currency are you paying in? If you give me some more details on the size of your architecture, I'll estimate number of man days.
Like I said, I don't get paid for advice on the forum. But I do have to make a living. Answering those questions is how I do it. Along with a lot of people here. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

That's a question for another thread in the "Job Postings" section I think. Post a brief outline of your set up, what you're looking for and get some tenders.
You might also want to contact a few of the usual suspects (IBM et al) with the same details and get tenders from them.
Remember to compare costs with deliverables; the cheapest tender might just paraphrase the clustering manual! _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

(My mention of IBM as a possible source of consultancy in the previous post should in no way be taken as an endorsement or recommendation of any service that they may or may not provide. Other consultancies are available which may or may not provide similar or more suitible services and any potential user should perform appropriate checks as part of the tendering process to ensure any services provided will meet their needs).
