Are there any free tools out there that would allow me to generate MQ documentation/diagrams.
In the past I have reverse engineered Oracle and SQL Server databases using Visio, producing an ERD diagram. Which I've found very useful.
I wondered if there was an eclispe plugin or Visio plugin that would utilise the MQ dll's and produce an object diagram.
I don't particually want the tool to spider an entire MQ infrastructure, just one queue manager and its associated channel objects would be a good start. |

I feel honour bound to mention MQDocument, which is not free but great value for money!
I'll leave further plugging to the author.... _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

you're welcome
aspre1b,
as far as I know there are no free tools out there that do what you want ...
(if there is something free, that involves drawing MQ in Eclipse or Visio I am insterested to know too)
MQArchitect although certainly not free, should address all your needs in this area. _________________ Michael

Just had a look at the presentations.
MQDocument looks good for turning MS03 output into a more readable format, for documentation purposes.
However MQArchitect seems to consentrate on diagram to MQSC creation, can it work the other way round? Can you provide an MQSC script and let it generate a diagram? |

yes, look at the reverse engineering scenario described in the appendix of the User Guide _________________ Michael

additionally MQDocument can re-use the MS03 output, it does not need it as i can extract the information on it's own.
You can even extract the required information without installing any code on the system or have a (hopefully secured!) client connection into your QueueManager!
The latest addition to MQDocument has MQSC script regeneration capabilities. _________________ Michael
