H there,
I've been fiddling around with the $MQSI variables. Adding the following line to the "Long Description" in my flow -
Code: |
$MQSI Author=Shakespeare MQSI$ |
and deploying results in the keyword appearing in the properties display of the flow, and all is dandy.
However, if I re-deploy the same bar file, suddenly the keyword disappears.
After some tests, I discovered that all $MQSI keywords disappear if the flow exists in the EG and if the bar file hasn't been refreshed; in other words, if you want your keywords to show up on the properties display, you have to either delete the flow, or refresh the bar file.
I've tried this on a 6.0 broker, and on a 6.1 broker on my laptop, and they exhibit the same behavior. So apprently this is a "feature", though for the life of me I can't figure out the logic behind it. Feature or not, it's just a bad idea. keywords should always appear as they are, no special action should be necessary.
Am I missing something here? Suggestions would be welcome... |

Do you get different results using the CMP API Exerciser? I mean specifically for the display of the variables, not for the deploy.
That should tell you better whether it's an issue with Toolkit or with Broker Runtime. |

I've seen this but a refresh/reload of the data from the ConfigMgr seems to bring them back.
I use these for Versioning and Barfile build dates etc so having that data available via the GUI is useful when trying to sort out errors with remote customers.
You will (well probably not...) be surprised how many times the problem lies in their failure to deploy the correct version of the flow.
One particular customer insists on delta releases and won't even consider consolidating it all into one. This means that they sometimes miss one delta out and run into problems. But this is digressing from the topic.

Every time you reinvent the wheel the more square it gets (anon). If in doubt think and investigate before you ask silly questions. |

ISTR this being a product defect from a while aback. If you're up to date on service then please raise a PMR. |

As a note, iFix 1 of Toolkit 6.1.0.3 was released on Friday. It includes fixes for the Bar File editor, and may include fixes in this area as well.
Anyone using Toolkit 6.1.0.3 should apply this iFix. |
