Hi,
I have a hopefully quick question about queue manager clusters.
We have been asked to look into the feasibility of setting up a queue manager cluster that would encompass queue managers in separate locations (Chicago and New Jersey).
My question is whether there are any hard and fast rules regarding minimum WAN speed to enable replication in a "timely" manner between repositories etc.
We are unlikely to want to pursue this avenue if the WAN could potentially cause issues.
It's generally a poor idea to span MQ clusters across hard network boundaries or across long slow links.
Remember that queue manager clusters create fully-connected networks - every qmgr in the cluster talks to every other qmgr.
So even if you only connect the FRs to each other with manual channels across the WAN link, you're still going to have qmgrs in New Jersey talking to Qmgrs in Chicago.
I would establish two clusters - one for New Jersey and one for Chicago. Then make one (or maybe two) qmgrs in each cluster PRs of the other cluster, and use qremotes/qaliases to shpae the message flow between clusters.
