All,
I have a question that is off-topic:
If your company uses LDAP servers for authentication, how many LDAP servers are you running. i.e. Dual Active + Active LDAP servers? Or do have a farm for LDAP servers? i.e. 7 LDAP servers to spread out the load.
Basically, I want to know what is the "normal" number of production LDAP servers that companies run.
Inquiring minds want to know.
Regards,
Roger Lacroix

I am not aware of other LDAP servers but with Tivoli Directory Server, usually they will have multiple servers. The topology is kind of one master and couple of forwarding and a few replication servers. I would say from a hardware point of view for a reasonable enterprise, 7 machines.
Here is a quick look at the replication and the topology

This knowledge of mine is from couple of customers of mine but I could completely be proven wrong |
