Hi,
1*/
I was trying to export all my qmgr/queues/channels setups to a word document that I can use if a total disaster destroys my complete mq server.
So a sort of nicely formatted document describing all non standard queues, non system objects, only the objects I have created and their settings that are changed (not the ones that were left as default)
Is there a tool to export them like this? Tryed DISPLAY QUEUE, but the output is kind of messy if you have to use that to recreate everything.
2*/ Secondly, can I export all those settings and put them safe somewhere so that I can put them back later. I assume backing up the folder /var/mqm/qmgrs is sufficient to achieve that?

To restore and do a lot more with those saved definitions you need MQArchitect

SupportPac MS03 will provide the back up of your queue manager objects, including filtering out SYSTEM.** objects, in clear text format. You may want to consider centralising the output away from the servers.
Consider the MQDocument tool from MQSystems for easy-on-the-eye display of the output.

For the export of the objects,
- what about the rcdmqimg command ?
- what about backing up /var/mqm/qmgrs folder daily
Because MqArchitect is rather expensive for what I want to do

1. MQArchitect does a lot more then just restore the MQDocument snapshots.
2. MQDocument can be bought seperately, but is also included in MQArchitect
3. you can use MS03 to save the commands to restore and then re-use those files to transform them into documents using MQDocument
plenty of choice
