Hi All,

Return code for a successful dmpmqaut command in Linux(rhel3) is 71 and in Solais, it is 0. IMHO, its a MQ bug. What do you people say?

Thanks,
Kalpana

I say cite your source - where in the IBM documentation does it say what codes this command returns under what circumstances?

My point - if the product documentation doesn't say that the product does something, it's not a bug when it doesn't do it. You might expect it to do something, it might often do that something, but you can't call it a bug when it doesn't do it.

I agree it's interesting, and is probably a return code not being explicitly set by the command as you might expect it would be. It's not a bug though - a bug is something the product is supposed to do that it does not do. So I repeat, either cite the part of the doc where it says the command returns 0 (or 71) and armed with this information raise a PMR or accept that the command returns 2 different codes on 2 different platforms and isn't that strange?

Or raise a PMR asking for the codes to be unified on all platforms? Would that be a PMR? Or a customer request? Not sure on that.

Comments anyone?

Could as well be a warning for a specific situation that is not encountered on the other platform...

Warning because the expected operation was performed, but possibly the output is not as all encompassing as a 0 return code would give you. Could be some permissions quirck etc... Who knows the OS is different enough...
