You may or should have read this: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wmqv6/v6r0/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.mq.csqzah.doc/qc10740_.htm

What that last paragraph is telling you is: Every Full Repository QMGR in a cluster must explicitly define cluster sender channels to every other Full Repository QMGR in that cluster.

If you do not do that, the repositories will get out of sync.

Of course, there is no good reason to have more then two FRs in a cluster.

Don't believe me, see: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wmqv6/v6r0/topic/com.ibm.mq.csqzah.doc/qc13230_.htm

Just thought I would reiterate this for those who cannot follow the two and only two FRs rule.

Note: If you have been operating in violation of this rule, defining the extra needed channels will resolve future problems, but not past sins. Repent but think carefully before you go "Refresh Cluster" crazy.

Earlier we had more than 2 FRs and we didn't define the cluster sender channels explicitly. If one of the FR goesdown for some reason, it was causing the entire cluster to corrupt. Now we changed our cluster to have only 2 FRs which is working good.

The document what you pointed is saying defining the cluster sender/ receiver channels explicitly with other Full repository. then the wiring between the QMgrs will be a mess I believe if you have more than 2 FRs.

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks.

Sam Uppu,

You are wise to take the "Best Practice" choice of two and only two FRs in a cluster with explicit sender channels between them. There is no real advantage to having more then two FRs.

Even in this case, if only one of the QMGRs had an explicit sender to the other FR, they would get out of sync (corrupt in your words).

Probably what happened in your case was that the damage was already done by the time it was defined correctly.

Like the document says, defining a cluster sender at a FR tells the FR which other FRs to forward cluster updates to. If you do this after the fact, it will not magically resync the repository information. It will only keep information in the repositories up to date going forward.
